vehicle blind spot
Jan. 4th, 2018 02:15 pmI know I bring this car thing up a lot. In short: I need another car but am afraid to do it.
The thing that I find interesting is how many people care what I drive. But not only that, but people seem to have a clear opinion on what I should do, despite their opinion changes with the wind. An employee suggested I get some V6 AWD car at the lot he was buying from. Two days later, "Don't get AWD. It's bad for the tires". A week later, after their deal fell through, he'll never buy from that lot again, so don't go there!
The same people who teased me about owning a minivan when I was 30's? Now drive a minivan.
My brother-in-law who drives a Focus demands I not own a Focus.
To be honest, I don't care. But, I don't want to make a mistake because being WRONG is the worst. The shit I ate for owning a Neon! I don't regret it. Silver has served me well. But people judge me like I wear socks with sandals -- something I only know should be avoided because of the complaining when people do.
The drawback with keeping acquaintance with so many outliers, it's impossible to determine a common taste. Heck, I have friends who eschew cars on principle.
Apparently I have to buy domestic, but not from the Wrong Dealerships. But a comfortable V6 but not an old-man car. And electric, but not electric. And certainly not a woman car. Bah! Everyone sucks.
Apparently women care what guys drive? I'm lucky to find someone who cares less than me. Well, I can't defer my taste to my wife.
