What is the craziest thing you secretly believe?

Do you believe reptilians rule the world? Think vaccines cause lycanthropy?

Anonymous comments allowed, but why bother? I'll start.

I don't believe in ghosts or monsters, but at night I think something will bite me if I dangle a limb off my bed. I also can't sleep with the closet open. I shudder when I consider I've closed more closets in my life than opened them.

This sounds like I've made it up just for this post, but I have a talisman (plastic Scotty figure from ST) I have for restriction enzyme cloning luck/success. I keep it above my bench and only bring it out when I really need it. I feel it senses if I really need it or not, and that influences if it will lend me its ~powers~. I've had it since grad school, been to every lab bench I've had :)

I set it so it can see every step (except for the overnight incubation--people don't like Scotty in the incubator.) I'm sure it has some localized effect on the 5' and 3' ends of the insert and vector. For sure.
