Serious family talk

I saw Star Wars: The Last Jedi with my nephew (19) last night. I forgot his Christmas card, again. FFS!

During the car ads, he got all serious. His face grew darker.

"Uncle Steve. I love you and you know you're my favourite uncle and I know people are on your case to get a new car, and I won't do that. You'll get a car when you want. But when you do, please don't get a foreign car. Maybe a BMW or Lexus is OK but don't get a Toyota. Or Honda. Don't be one of those people."

"Hondas are made in Ontario"

"Two factories in all of Ontario. How many Chrysler plants are in Essex County?"

"I'm not buying a Minivan."

"I'm just telling you what I feel."

"Alec, my favourite nephew. I appreciate your concerns, but I'm gonna get whatever car I damn well want and I hope that whatever car I choose, even if it's a Honda, it doesn't come between us."

Then there was a Jurassic World trailer and they were riding around in futuristic Jeeps.

"On second though. I don't want a Honda. I'm saving up my money for one of those amphibious hamster balls"
